Action Needed in States Not Screening for SCID

Recent opinion pieces published in Montana and North Carolina expressed hope that both states protect their vulnerable citizens and add SCID newborn screening to their state newborn screening panels. Marcia Boyle, IDF President & Founder, authored an opinion piece for the Missoulian emphasizing the true cost of failing to screen for this potentially-fatal condition.

Dr. Rebecca Buckley of Duke University Medical Center and Chair of the IDF Medical Advisory Committee wrote to the Charlotte Observer in her own home state, drawing on her 32-year experience treating infants with SCID at Duke to ask the North Carolina legislature to adopt SCID screening measures in the next legislative session.
